We exist to help people discover hope through the journey of life. Hope Church carries out our purpose by making it our mission to lead people to Encounter Christ, Experience community, and Engage culture. These three Biblical expectations for the church will develop transformed followers of Christ at Hope Church.
What We Believe
God
We believe in one God who is the creator of the universe. God exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. These three personalities are equal and function as one.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the son of the living God. Jesus became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost world. Through His sinless life He became the one and only perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men. Jesus died on the cross, rose 3 days later, and conquered sin and death. He will return to earth again to reign as Lord and King.
Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit to be the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit works for God's purpose and empowers believers to reproduce the life of Christ. He comes to live in the life of every believer only at the time of salvation. Believers live under the influence of the Holy Spirit as they are dependent and sensitive to His prompting in their lives.
Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It was written by men under the supernatural inspiration of God. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without error. It is the supreme authority of truth for Christian belief and behavior.
Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins. Therefore, salvation only occurs when a person places his faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as a sufficient payment for his sin. Salvation is eternally secured by the grace and power of God and is evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit produced through believers' lives.
Mankind
We believe that man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God by his own effort. This only happens by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ of which Jesus Christ is the Head. The members are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to a lost world.
Baptism
We believe that baptism is outward profession of an inward transformation. This symbol of salvation is not part of salvation. Those professing a personal faith in Christ should be baptized by immersion.
